General blathering

Well it has been a while since my last post hasn't it. A lot of things have happened since then and all of the mare good.

Karen and I finally have our new house (pics here), we bought a new car and got rid of the minivan. The car is really Karen's car, although I love driving it. It is a 2005 Cadillac CTS. We got the sports package which allows this luxury card to corner like its on rails and I must say that the ride is superb.

The next big thing is making a career change. I gave my undying dedication to a firm for almost 7 years and while it started off great, at the 6 year mark things started to deteriate. I stuck out the 6th year and was very lucky indeed to find a great job as a Product Manager at Onset Technology. I manage the Legal and Voice products and am loving every minute of it.
One perk is that I get to work out of my home office which means no 4 hour commuting (2 hours each way). I wanted to stay in mobile computing ever since I doing it back in 2000 but was driven away from it. I had to leave to get back into it. I'm very glad I did.

Of course the typical things happen when you leave a company. People who pick up where you leave off find it easy to bad mouth you when they don't understand the product or can't figure something out. I'm happy in the knowledge that I did my job to the best of my ability and while I was doing it, nothing broke and when it did, I could fix it.

My book is nearing completion at this point as I write the final chapter of the manuscript to be handed in on March 31st. After that I start the Author Review stage which is much less time consuming. Then by April 18th I hand the manuscript back for the last time. At that point I hope to have a book that will be a compelling purchase and a great read (not to mention useful).
